President John Dramani Mahama has opened the Ghana AgroTech Fair 2026 at Accra’s Black Star Square, saying his administration will prioritise technology, innovation and locally developed solutions to raise agricultural productivity and modernise the sector.
The three-day event, organised by the Ghana Export-Import Bank (Ghana EXIM Bank), is bringing together agribusiness operators, technology developers, researchers and investors to promote new approaches to farming and agro-processing and attract investment into the value chain.
After the opening ceremony, Mahama toured exhibition stands and interacted with displays featuring locally designed machinery, agro-processing equipment and digital tools aimed at improving efficiency from production through to processing and marketing.

The fair is being held under the theme “Transforming Agribusiness through Local Innovation and Technology,” with organisers describing it as a platform for connecting innovators and manufacturers with farmers, financiers and policymakers.
In his address, the President said agriculture remains central to Ghana’s economic transformation and argued that expanding domestic capacity—rather than relying heavily on imported systems—would be key to building resilience and long-term growth.

Mahama said he will break ground on Friday, 20 March 2026, for the first phase of a Farmer Service Centre initiative at Afram Plains, a programme intended to establish 50 centres in major agricultural producing areas nationwide.
He said the centres are intended to provide mechanisation support, training and extension services, with the first phase expected to cover 11 centres as the broader national rollout begins.
The Ghana AgroTech Fair runs from 17 to 19 March 2026 at Black Star Square, with organisers and government officials presenting it as part of a wider push to turn ideas into viable enterprises and strengthen agriculture’s role as a driver of economic growth.
